10th Barefoot Run!

The weather’s dry and bright.  The earth paths are warm underfoot but the grass is cool.  I’m itching to run this whole 1.75 mile lap barefoot but with the Half Marthon on Saturday it would be stupid to build up a blister now.  So instead I increased from my usual 1 mile to 1.45 miles.

I’ll often do a set of moving (not emotionally) warm ups when I’m running up here and when I was doing my leg swings, crossing my legs to and from across my body, I really felt some stiffness in the lower outsides of my Gluteus muscles.  It must have arisen from the intervals earlier in the week – so I must have been working as hard as I thought.

There’s one section I’m not keen on, near the Tea Rooms, which has open-grain tarmac and I find that makes my feet quite tender, but not today, so things are improving!

Just as I was coming down the hill on the road to work I stepped on a stone with my left foot.  Somehow I managed to quickly step off it without doing too much damage and I was pleased with that response.  I just hope I haven’t run too far.
