Wells & back & some Barefoot to boot

This Bank Holiday weekend presents the last chance for a long training run before the Bristol Half Marathon, so it’s back out on the Mendip Way on the 12 mile return run to Wells again.  A nice day, not hot but bright and great views.

I realised in the week that my barefoot runs on The Downs are now up to a mile long so I decided to do the last mile of this run without shoes, starting at the top of Windsor Hill.  All was fine until the section under conifers with very slender but hard and pronounced roots – my god did they hurt!  And then there were the twigs – only pencil thick but equally unpredictable and painful.

Still Millie and I got home with no problems and my feet had no ill after effects.

Week 11 Review

Total miles: 23, mainly cross country, some roads, mainly sunny, except one very rainy day

Barefoot miles: 1, across grass, some road, very wet
