Inov-8 are a rare thing, a running shoe manufacturer from the UK.
A comparatively new player in the running shoe market specialising in off-road products.
The range of shoes they produce is huge, extending to over 30 different varieties and it’s probably true to say that they have a shoe for every runner, every terrain, every distance or any other variable you can think of.
Their design philosophy emphasizes function, lightweight and performance. You will find no over-cushioned shoes in their range; cushioning inhibits the natural movement and sensitivities of the foot.
We’ve been running in Inov-8 shoes for a good few years, and can heartily recommend various versions of their Roclite, Terroc, F-light and Mudclaw models without hesitation.
I wrote a brief review of the Mudclaw 270 earlier.
I have also run many, many miles in Roclites, including marathons, mountain races and even long distance road runs. They are comfortable, long lasting, and if you are interested in minimalist footwear, very compatible with the benefits of allowing the foot to operate in its natural way.
You can read more about these ideas on Running Training Plan in my barefoot running diary, particularly how Inov-8 shoes work well with a barefoot running strategy to help keep running injuries to a minimum.
