Today was very grey, the weather was distinctly colder, and people were wrapping up – so I felt even more out of place in my lycra shorts and barefoot.<\/p>\n

As I turned one corner up onto a bridge a man I was running towards said “Mate, where’s your shoes?”, but in quite an aggressive way, as if I had offended him.<\/p>\n

” Don’t need any”, I replied.\u00a0 “That’s right\u201d, he shouted back as I carried on running, “‘cos cuckoo people don’t need shoes\u2026”, I didn’t hear the rest.<\/p>\n

He was really frowning and clearly wanted to make a point.\u00a0 It was as if I was walking around naked and I had violated public decency.<\/p>\n
