Vivo Barefoots v. barefoot.<\/p>\n<p>Without the change in terrain, incline, surfaces etc. I found that I started to heel strike in the off-road shoes and really had to concentrate on forefoot landing and trying to propel the belt backwards beneath me.<\/p>\n<p>The Vivos were fine, I was immediately more in connection with the ground and my forefoot running style returned.<\/p>\n<p>Barefoot was good but even my feet got bored, so I had to try a bit of hopping and jumping to the beat and even trying to run in slightly different directions, rather than dead straight on, without falling off the belt.<\/p>\n<p>On the first day I had to stop earlier than I had intended as my pads were starting to smart. \u00a0On the second and third I could run further but the 2nd and\/or 3rd toe on my left foot felt like it was taking a hammering.<\/p>\n<p>Despite my rant I am as bad as the rest of you and got quite excited when I went over 2.5kms on one day, and 3.5 on the next. \u00a0Then I remembered that they are kilometres, not miles. \u00a0That wiped the smile off my face.<\/p>\n<p>Time for some summaries:<\/p>\n<p>Week 16<br \/>\nTotal miles: 5.5, cross-country, some woodland, dry but dark<br \/>\n0 barefoot, o transition<\/p>\n<p>Week 17<br \/>\n0 running<\/p>\n<p>Week 18<br \/>\nTotal miles: 17, all on blessed treadmills, indoors, with MTV behind me and the option of random channels on the display in front.<br \/>\nBarefoot miles: 8<br \/>\nTransition miles: 3.5<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As if&#8230; A necessary evil perhaps, and my only option for running, working where I am at the moment.
