Final three quarters of a mile was completed after removing shoes and socks \u2014 it&#8217;s becoming a bit of a habit now.<\/p>\n<p>Road surface was a lovely and smooth tarmac, quiet country lane. Pleased I was able to do this because after my last barefoot run on Friday the feet were a bit sore.<br \/>\nActually, the main problem for this run was the calf muscles. Friday&#8217;s longer run in the aqua shoes obviously worked them a bit more than I thought.<\/p>\n<p>I have a friend who has been sidelined for some weeks after introducing chi-running and consequently straining his Achilles tendon. A further reminder that if we&#8217;ve been used to running in well-cushioned, supportive shoes, we really must be careful to make transitions slowly.<\/p>\n<p>I was very pleased that even after my feet got sore on Friday I was able to run barefoot again so soon. Absolutely no soreness after this run at all \u2014 but it was a smooth road. Calf muscles are pretty sore though!<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s run (Monday) was just a short 4 miler. Half road, half dry fields \u2014 in Terrocs as usual.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, I found an interesting article in the <a title=\"Barefoot Running in the Sunday TImes\" href=\"http:\/\/www.timesonline.co.uk\/tol\/sport\/more_sport\/athletics\/article6823220.ece\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sunday Times about barefoot running<\/a>.<br \/>\nIt seems the national press are quite interested in this phenomenon, but still the running magazines avoid the issue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>No run on Saturday due to migraine, not a hangover.
