{"id":1794,"date":"2010-12-19T19:35:46","date_gmt":"2010-12-19T19:35:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/?p=1794"},"modified":"2011-01-02T20:00:31","modified_gmt":"2011-01-02T20:00:31","slug":"winter-navigation-with-a-garmin-forerunner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/winter-navigation-with-a-garmin-forerunner\/","title":{"rendered":"Winter navigation with a Garmin Forerunner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Freezing cold, snow, ice, grey skies \u2014 nice warm house, toast, log fire \u2014 it can be a bit of a challenge getting out of the door for a run when the weather is like it has been in the UK recently.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s certainly no fun on the roads, even dangerous on the ice.<br \/>\nSo the fields are calling and it&#8217;s a great time to explore some new routes over the countryside.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Finding the route<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Users of mapmyrun.com or gmap-pedometer.com will be used to plotting their running routes on the web, and will also aware of the limitations of using Google mapping; the map detail is just not great enough to show footpaths across private land. Wouldn&#8217;t it be great to plot a route on a detailed OS map and download it straight on to your Garmin before setting out.
