{"id":2406,"date":"2011-08-22T16:40:08","date_gmt":"2011-08-22T15:40:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/?p=2406"},"modified":"2011-08-22T16:40:08","modified_gmt":"2011-08-22T15:40:08","slug":"week-2-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/week-2-5\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 2"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Total weekly miles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a01.25 miles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>3.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total weekly barefoot miles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1.25\u00a0miles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of barefoot running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>3.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Running terrain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Flat circuit outside my house on pavement.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ground surface of barefoot runs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A mix of smooth and rough pavement with some road too.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Runs in minimalist shoes, e.g. Five Fingers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>None.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weather for barefoot runs (rain on road?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2 runs were nice and dry, I managed 0.5 of a mile each on those.\u00a0 One run was in the rain, my feet really hurt during that one, so I cut it down to 0.25 of a mile.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Condition of skin on feet \u2014 hotspots, blisters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Surprisingly, considering the pain I was in during the wet run (my feet were so sore, I honestly thought my soles were going to shear off during that run!), my feet are fine!\u00a0 Skin feels soft and smooth, no blisters, abrasions\u00a0or anything.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interesting\/amusing comments received during the week: e.g. \u2018You\u2019ve got no shoes on!\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>None, but a couple of drivers did a double take when they saw me trotting around with no shoes on.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treading on nasty things: e.g. glass, thorns, poo \u2014 how you dealt with any.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No problems like that.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Changes in your running style that you\u2019ve noticed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>During the dry runs, my feet feel fine, so I think my running stlye is pretty much the same as last week, i.e. forefoot landing, short strides etc.\u00a0 However, I think I&#8217;m still over-striding a bit which is why my feet hurt so much when I was running in the wet.\u00a0 The shearing forces that are causing the pain\u00a0should (hopefully) stop if I concentrate on shortening my stride even more.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Injuries incurred, or reduction of existing symptoms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No injuries.\u00a0 My right foot (in which I felt the TOFP when I first started) feels a little sore sometimes, but nowhere near as bad as it was.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Useful tips and nuggets of info you\u2019ve picked up along the way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No tips or nuggets this week, but I recently bought some original RunAmocs from Soft Star shoes, which are amazing.\u00a0 Leather moccasins with a 2mm thick vibram rubber sole.\u00a0 They&#8217;re made as minimalist running shoes, so they have thin soles and don&#8217;t offer any support to the foot.\u00a0 I love them and wear them as my everyday shoe.\u00a0 They&#8217;re suede leather, so they&#8217;re a bit too warm for\u00a0running in for me, but I&#8217;m seriously considering buying some RunAmoc Lites.\u00a0 The Lites\u00a0have perforated leather uppers, so a bit cooler for running in, and should dry faster than the suede ones if I run in the rain (which is unavoidable round here!).\u00a0 Still, there&#8217;s plenty of time for that, I don&#8217;t intend to run in shoes again until I have to when winter arrives!<\/p>\n<p>This week, I&#8217;m looking to run between 1.5 miles and 1.75 miles over 3 runs.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll be concentrating on trying to shorten my stride and make sure my general form is OK.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Total weekly miles \u00a01.25 miles.
