{"id":2543,"date":"2011-10-17T11:53:54","date_gmt":"2011-10-17T10:53:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/?p=2543"},"modified":"2011-10-17T11:53:54","modified_gmt":"2011-10-17T10:53:54","slug":"week-10","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/week-10\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 10"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Total weekly miles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a03 ish miles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>4.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total weekly barefoot mile<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>3ish miles<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of barefoot running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>4.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Running terrain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Flat circuit outside my house on pavement.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ground surface of barefoot runs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A mix of smooth and rough pavement and road.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Runs in minimalist shoes, e.g. Five Fingers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>None.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weather for barefoot runs (rain on road?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All dry, some chilly.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Condition of skin on feet \u2014 hotspots, blisters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Good.\u00a0\u00a0No issues from running, although my toes began to go numb a couple of times due to the cold.\u00a0 Went walking in my Mocs during the week, about 3 or 4 miles with no socks.\u00a0 I had a couple of hot spots from walking because\u00a0I usually wear socks with my Mocs.\u00a0 Without the socks, my soles rub a little on the footbed in the shoe.\u00a0 They were fine once I stopped, if a little tender.\u00a0 No blisters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interesting\/amusing comments received during the week: e.g. \u2018You\u2019ve got no shoes on!\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No comments.\u00a0 I&#8217;m starting to think that the people around where I live are\u00a0either very polite or completely disinterested in what goes on around them!\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treading on nasty things: e.g. glass, thorns, poo \u2014 how you dealt with any<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I think I jinxed myself by praising the cleanliness of the pavements around my house.\u00a0 This week, I&#8217;ve had to dig out a small shard of glass and a thorn from different parts of my foot.\u00a0 Both were fine after the extraction process, although the process required no small degree of flexibility in my ankle&#8230;\u00a0 I was contemplating constructing a complex assembly of mirrors and magnifying glasses when removing the glass shard, it was right on the outside of my foot, just below my little toe and almost impossible to see\/reach.\u00a0 Very inconvenient place to be digging around in the skin of your foot with a needle and tweezers&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Changes in your running style that you\u2019ve noticed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Not sure about this actually.\u00a0 I noticed that when I got tired towards the\u00a0last stretch\u00a0of my\u00a0usual\u00a0route (which is also\u00a0slightly downhill), I was heel-striking slightly\u00a0on my left foot.\u00a0 I shortened my stride, increased my tempo and bent my knees more, which seemed to solve the problem.\u00a0 So obviously, my form isn&#8217;t perfect yet\u00a0by any stretch of the imagination.\u00a0 But that&#8217;s the good thing about finally being able to run these slightly longer distances, you have time to tweak your form as you go along.\u00a0\u00a0When running half a mile or less, you&#8217;re back at home almost before you notice any issues.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Injuries incurred, or reduction of existing symptoms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>None.\u00a0\u00a0My feet still feel fine, no other problems.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Useful tips and nuggets of info you\u2019ve picked up along the way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>None this week I think.\u00a0 Maybe stretching my ankles more would help a bit&#8230;\u00a0 Increased ankle flexibility can only be a good thing when trying to dig debris out of the soles of your feet!<\/p>\n<p>This week, I&#8217;m going to try 3 or 4 runs of 1 mile each.\u00a0 The big mile barrier has arrived!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Total weekly miles \u00a03 ish miles.
