{"id":2695,"date":"2011-11-28T10:22:54","date_gmt":"2011-11-28T10:22:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/?p=2695"},"modified":"2011-11-28T10:22:54","modified_gmt":"2011-11-28T10:22:54","slug":"week-16","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/week-16\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 16"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Total weekly miles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a07.8 miles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>3.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total weekly barefoot mile<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>0\u00a0miles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of barefoot running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>0.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Running terrain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mostly flat, one steep hill, on a mixture of pavement and grass.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ground surface of barefoot runs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>N.A.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Runs in minimalist shoes, e.g. Five Fingers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>RunAmocs on all 3 runs.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weather for barefoot runs (rain on road?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Not barefoot, but I had some problems this week in my RunAmocs.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve got the &#8220;street&#8221; soles on mine, which is basically a smooth piece of rubber with no grip or tread.\u00a0 When it&#8217;s dry, or when I&#8217;m running on pavement or road, it&#8217;s fine.\u00a0 However, the routes I want to get back to running on now are mostly on grass and trails around a big park nearby.\u00a0 It rained quite heavily this week and it was pretty much impossible to run properly in my RunAmocs (or barefoot) as it got so muddy and slippery.\u00a0 So I&#8217;m going to have to think about wearing something else on my feet&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Condition of skin on feet \u2014 hotspots, blisters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Good.\u00a0 No side-effects of wearing my RunAmocs so far.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interesting\/amusing comments received during the week: e.g. \u2018You\u2019ve got no shoes on!\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nothing.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treading on nasty things: e.g. glass, thorns, poo \u2014 how you dealt with any<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No problems this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Changes in your running style that you\u2019ve noticed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Still noticing a more mid-foot type footstrike.\u00a0 But still no tendency to heel-strike, so I think it&#8217;s OK.\u00a0 I can relax a bit about it now.\u00a0 I did\u00a0some reading about increasing speed\u00a0and running downhill, so I have the theory down now I think (leaning forward to speed up, bending the\u00a0knees going downhill).\u00a0\u00a0Putting it into practice is a matter of playing around over the next few weeks till it feels comfortable, I suppose.\u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Injuries incurred, or reduction of existing symptoms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Still noticing calf\u00a0tiredness at the end of\u00a0runs.\u00a0 But I\u00a0expect this will go away as I get fitter.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Useful tips and nuggets of info you\u2019ve picked up along the way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0None this week.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m going to increase the distance I run again this coming week to just over 3 miles.\u00a0 I&#8217;m also going to be in London this week, so I might pop into the Vivobarefoot shop and check out a pair of Evos.\u00a0 I need something for running in the mud.\u00a0 When it&#8217;s dry, or if I&#8217;m road running, I&#8217;ll probably still wear my RunAmocs just because I love them so much.\u00a0 But I really do need something that will give me some grip in the wet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Total weekly miles \u00a07.8 miles.
