It&#8217;s all in the mind&#8230;.well almost!!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m just back from a 3.5 mile &#8216;run&#8217;. I find that if I tell myself I&#8217;m going for a walk, then I&#8217;m more likely to turn it into a run and be pleased with the outcome. If I set out for a run it&#8217;s generally a frustrating and disappointing experience. It could just be that walking for a few minutes means I&#8217;m warmed up for running, or it could be that I&#8217;m playing mind games with myself but, in any case, setting out at a brisk walking pace makes for a better outcome.<\/p>\n<p>Running is at a minimum now, but I shouldn&#8217;t complain! I&#8217;m 38 weeks pregnant and have managed to maintain a reasonable level of fitness throughout. I have been struggling mentally of late, however. It has seemed like a long time since I was able to indulge fully in running and I rely very heavily upon my running for emotional and mental well-being &#8211; not just physical fitness. I was feeling a bit glum the other day when it suddenly dawned on me that I can (hopefully) look forward to hard training and racing again soon. I cheered myself up with thoughts of potential goals and races but, for now, I&#8217;ll keep them under my hat.
