{"id":3100,"date":"2012-05-15T17:05:14","date_gmt":"2012-05-15T16:05:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/?p=3100"},"modified":"2012-05-15T17:05:14","modified_gmt":"2012-05-15T16:05:14","slug":"week-24","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/week-24\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 24"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Total weekly miles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>8.5\u00a0miles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total weekly barefoot mile<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>0\u00a0miles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of barefoot running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>0.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Running terrain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mostly flat, on a mixture of pavement and mud.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ground surface of barefoot runs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>N\/A.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Runs in minimalist shoes, e.g. Five Fingers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lunas on my shorter run, RunAmocs on my long run.\u00a0 I had to miss a session this week because of some foot pain.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t want to push through it, especially this close to the 10k.\u00a0 I think the pain might have been from over-tightening my Luna laces.\u00a0 Seems I have a bit to learn about tying them&#8230;\u00a0 Might not wear them for the 10k after all&#8230;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weather for barefoot runs (rain on road?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>N\/A.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Condition of skin on feet \u2014 hotspots, blisters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Somehow I&#8217;ve managed to get more blisters on\u00a0the balls of\u00a0both\u00a0feet\u00a0after my long run on Sunday!\u00a0 Really gutted&#8230;\u00a0 I really don&#8217;t know why.\u00a0 It might be that I&#8217;m getting nervous about the race and am pushing it too much in my runs, it might be that because I didn&#8217;t do any barefooting this week my form is off, it might be my RunAmocs are too big (well, I know they are, but I haven&#8217;t run this far in them before)&#8230;\u00a0 So I&#8217;m a bit stuck!\u00a0 Really not sure what to do in terms of what I should wear for the 10k.\u00a0 I know my feet aren&#8217;t conditioned enough to run the whole distance barefoot.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interesting\/amusing comments received during the week: e.g. \u2018You\u2019ve got no shoes on!\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nothing.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treading on nasty things: e.g. glass, thorns, poo \u2014 how you dealt with any<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>No problems this week.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Changes in your running style that you\u2019ve noticed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>My short run today felt really hard.\u00a0 I never really got going.\u00a0 I found my self trying to force my pace too much, with knock on effects on my form.\u00a0 I think it&#8217;s probably down to my crappy diet over the last couple of days.\u00a0 Too much white bread and crisps, not enough fruit and veg!\u00a0 Will have to remedy that for the rest of the week before the race.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Injuries incurred, or reduction of existing symptoms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Again, a bit of calf pain.\u00a0 My new blisters hurt too.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Useful tips and nuggets of info you\u2019ve picked up along the way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>None this week.\u00a0 Feels like a bit of a regression.\u00a0 Too little milage, too many blisters.\u00a0 Maybe after the 10k I&#8217;ll take a week off, let my feet heal and re-assess where I am.\u00a0 I think now with summer coming I can probably ditch the shoes for at least the first f couple of miles of\u00a0the majority of my runs, maybe running purely barefoot will stop my blister problems?<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Total weekly miles 8.5\u00a0miles.
