{"id":3131,"date":"2012-06-11T14:54:16","date_gmt":"2012-06-11T13:54:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/?p=3131"},"modified":"2012-06-11T14:54:16","modified_gmt":"2012-06-11T13:54:16","slug":"week-28","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/week-28\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 28"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Total weekly miles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>27.6 miles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>4 (3&#215;60 minutes, 1&#215;120 minutes)<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total weekly barefoot mile<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>8 miles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of barefoot running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>1.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Running terrain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mostly flat, on a mixture of pavement, dirt tracks and road.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ground surface of barefoot runs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mixture of pavement, grass and dirt tracks, but I tried to stay on pavement as much as possible.\u00a0 Need to keep this up to try and toughen my soles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Runs in minimalist shoes, e.g. Five Fingers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lunas when not barefoot.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weather for barefoot runs (rain on road?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All three runs in my Lunas were in gale force winds.\u00a0 My barefoot run mixed heavy rain (for the whole 2 hours) with the wind.\u00a0 I&#8217;m quite surprised how much the wind can affect the speed at which you can run at a constant heart rate.\u00a0 I constantly had to slow down when going into the wind and rain.\u00a0 Very annoying, and resulted in a lower mileage than\u00a0I expected for the time I was running.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Condition of skin on feet \u2014 hotspots, blisters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Still fine!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interesting\/amusing comments received during the week: e.g. \u2018You\u2019ve got no shoes on!\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A couple of nods from other runners.\u00a0 Lots of comments from people who thought I wasn&#8217;t looking at them while I ran past, in the &#8220;look at him!&#8221; sense.\u00a0 But as always, I just kept running.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treading on nasty things: e.g. glass, thorns, poo \u2014 how you dealt with any<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>None this week.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Changes in your running style that you\u2019ve noticed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Very difficult to keep a steady cadance or pace this week while keeping my heart rate steady at 144bpm.\u00a0 My diet&#8217;s been a bit rubbish this week, far too many crisps and sandwiches, so that might have played a part.\u00a0 But I think the weather didn&#8217;t help.\u00a0 So generally I felt much less smooth in my running style than normal.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Injuries incurred, or reduction of existing symptoms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>None from running!\u00a0 I tweaked a calf on a bike ride over the bank holiday weekend, but this went away with a couple of days of rest.\u00a0 No running-related injuries.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Useful tips and nuggets of info you\u2019ve picked up along the way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I planned to do my whole 2 hour run barefoot, but it was a bit chilly and wet out when I started.\u00a0 So rather than start barefoot, I started in my Lunas to give my feet a chance to warm up.\u00a0 About 2 or 3 miles into the run, I took them off, and was able to complete the\u00a0rest of my\u00a0run barefoot.\u00a0 So giving yourself 10-15 minutes at the start of the run with some kind of footwear on can help you deal with cooler temperatures.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Total weekly miles 27.6 miles.
