{"id":3209,"date":"2012-07-23T09:55:41","date_gmt":"2012-07-23T08:55:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/?p=3209"},"modified":"2012-07-23T09:55:41","modified_gmt":"2012-07-23T08:55:41","slug":"week-34","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/week-34\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 34"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li>Total weekly miles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pretty decent week this week after recovering from my cold last week.\u00a0 About 5 hours of running, roughly 28 miles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>5 sessions, all runs of about\u00a0one hour.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total weekly barefoot miles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>9.5 miles barefoot.\u00a0 Again, just running the last couple of miles home at the end of my runs barefoot.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of barefoot running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>2<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Running terrain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mostly flat, on a mixture of pavement, dirt tracks and road.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ground surface of barefoot runs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pavement and road.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Runs in minimalist shoes, e.g. Five Fingers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lunas with leather laces for all my runs this week.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weather for barefoot runs (rain on road?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Warm and dry.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Condition of skin on feet \u2014 hotspots, blisters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Fine.\u00a0 No problems.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interesting\/amusing comments received during the week: e.g. \u2018You\u2019ve got no shoes on!\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Someone I know who knows I run barefoot was asking me if I had tanned feet now after the good weather we&#8217;ve had over the last week or so!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treading on nasty things: e.g. glass, thorns, poo \u2014 how you dealt with any<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nothing.\u00a0 There was loads of broken glass around in the last couple of days.\u00a0 Luckily I managed to avoid it all.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Changes in your running style that you\u2019ve noticed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I had a bit of a breakthrough run this week.\u00a0 I managed to run more than half a mile further in an hour than I&#8217;ve managed before, keeping my heart rate at 144bpm.\u00a0 It felt really good, really easy.\u00a0 I was able to run at a comfortable rhythm, nice and smooth, without the &#8216;plodding&#8217; that sometimes happens when you have to keep your heart rate down.\u00a0 Hopefully that means that 9 weeks after training at my MAF pace I&#8217;m going to reap the rewards of a good aerobic base for the 2 races I&#8217;ve entered in September.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Injuries incurred, or reduction of existing symptoms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>None.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Useful tips and nuggets of info you\u2019ve picked up along the way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This week, I&#8217;ve had both my best and my worst runs in a long time.\u00a0 My worst was really bad, I struggled to keep my heart rate down while moving at any kind of speed.\u00a0 My best was brilliant, I was able to run smoothly and quickly with a low heart rate.\u00a0 So I guess you have to take the rough with the smooth, don&#8217;t give up if you have a rubbish run, don&#8217;t beat yourself up about it.\u00a0 You could have a brilliant one just around the corner!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Total weekly miles Pretty decent week this week after recovering from my cold last week.\u00a0 About 5 hours of running, roughly 28 miles.
