{"id":3219,"date":"2012-08-06T12:23:37","date_gmt":"2012-08-06T11:23:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/?p=3219"},"modified":"2012-08-08T10:38:29","modified_gmt":"2012-08-08T09:38:29","slug":"week-36","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/week-36\/","title":{"rendered":"Week 36"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total weekly miles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>22 miles this week.\u00a0 Not that much, but had to take a couple of days to recover from the festival!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>4 sessions,\u00a03 runs of about one hour and one of 45 minutes because I&#8217;d eaten a lot of crap that day (white bread, sweets and crisps) and felt awful on my run &#8211; headache, stomach cramps, just felt awful so I went home early!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Total weekly barefoot miles<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>About 6 miles.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Number of barefoot running sessions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>3.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Running terrain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mostly flat, on a mixture of pavement, dirt tracks and road.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ground surface of barefoot runs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Pavement and road.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Runs in minimalist shoes, e.g. Five Fingers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lunas with leather laces for all my runs, taking them off for the last 2 miles or so.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weather for barefoot runs (rain on road?)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Warm but damp.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Condition of skin on feet \u2014 hotspots, blisters<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I managed to develop a crack in the skin at the joint (the &#8216;crease&#8217; in the skin) of my second toe on my left foot, maybe connected to the knot on my sandals.\u00a0 It was really painful.\u00a0 I used superglue to sick it back together to give the new skin underneath some protection while it healed.\u00a0 Fine now after bothering me for a couple of days.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Interesting\/amusing comments received during the week: e.g. \u2018You\u2019ve got no shoes on!\u2019<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Someone ran beside me for a bit on one of my runs to ask about my sandals.\u00a0 Pretty similar conversation to the one I had during the race &#8211; &#8220;yeah, it doesn&#8217;t hurt, they&#8217;re really comfy, why not give it a go sometime?&#8221;&#8230; &#8220;maybe&#8230; bye!&#8221;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treading on nasty things: e.g. glass, thorns, poo \u2014 how you dealt with any<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Nothing.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Changes in your running style that you\u2019ve noticed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>None this week.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Injuries incurred, or reduction of existing symptoms.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>None.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Useful tips and nuggets of info you\u2019ve picked up along the way.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Again, none.\u00a0 I&#8217;ll write a seperate entry to give a conclusion to my first year as a barefoot\/minimalist runner.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Total weekly miles 22 miles this week.\u00a0 Not that much, but had to take a couple of days to recover from the festival!
