{"id":324,"date":"2009-11-02T18:25:13","date_gmt":"2009-11-02T18:25:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/?p=324"},"modified":"2010-07-20T11:17:23","modified_gmt":"2010-07-20T10:17:23","slug":"fourteen-weeks-of-barefoot-running","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/runningtrainingplan.com\/runningpress\/fourteen-weeks-of-barefoot-running\/","title":{"rendered":"Fourteen weeks of barefoot running"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Just over 3 months into my barefoot running experiment, and I am wondering about my experience so far.<br \/>\nAfter 29 barefoot runs there is no doubt in my mind that some of my &#8216;usual&#8217; injuries: runner&#8217;s knee and plantar fasciitis, have been lessened.<br \/>\nAfter my layoff in June, I built my mileage back up quite quickly, and would normally have been at risk from knee problems. I believe that even running just 10% mileage barefoot encourages a more leg friendly running action. The plantar fasciitis has steadily improved although not as much as it did in the early stages of barefoot running.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, my Achilles tendon issue has been a limiting factor recently and with the marathon in Florence looming, I have chosen to reduce the barefoot running a little.<\/p>\n<p>After a half marathon yesterday in atrocious conditions I ran a mile and a half barefoot on reasonably smooth road.
