This Monday, I went out for a 1.25 mile run and right around the 1 mile mark I began to feel my old antagonist ITBS creeping back into my left knee area.<\/p>\n<p>Now don&#8217;t take me for an idiot. I knew when switching last month to Barefoot running that my injuries wouldn&#8217;t go away like magic, but until this point I haven&#8217;t felt a\u00a0twinge\u00a0of real pain. \u00a0What I\u00a0believe\u00a0to be the problem is that even though I am running with a better midfoot strike, I am still over striding and that might be the issue with my ITBS.<\/p>\n<p>My 1.25 mile run on Monday was followed \u00a0by 5 hours of internet research on how to get rid of this ITBS forever. \u00a0Here is what I am now attempting. \u00a0Hip stretches, Glute stretches, Glute strengthening, icing, foam and tennis ball rolling. \u00a0I&#8217;ve bought the book Chi Running and will be reading it throughout this dooms day snow storm we are having here in DC. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I attempted a second run on Wednesday using the knowledge I gained from my research and I was able to make it a mile without any real pain, but I could still feel a trace of ITBS. \u00a0Since the snow has kept me inside, I am keeping with my stretches and\u00a0exercises\u00a0every day until we thaw out and I can test my form again. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>THIS SUCKS!!! 2.25 miles all Barefoot, all\u00a0unsuccessful\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Cheers, Bruno<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve gone from\u00a0Feast\u00a0to Famine in the matter of 48 hours. \u00a0After my breakthrough last week, I feel that my concentration has really fallen off.
