I am a 31 year old man living in Norway. I have been running an average of 20 to 25 miles a week for the last ten years. I have run on all kinds of terrain, as I have lived in several different cities here and in the United States. I prefer trails that are chock full of hills. I also enjoy running through interesting areas or landscapes.

Like most people, I have gone barefoot a lot when I was a kid. When I was 18 or so, I used to hike barefoot at times and never really had any problems. It was almost as if my feet were made to be naked.

I have had a tendency to develop Achilles tendonitis. Lately, I am suffering from tendonitis on another part of the leg. This type of injury concerns me a lot. I have never had any problems with shin splints, but have had sore knees a couple times. I have to be careful in choosing my shoes. I buy and use trail runners of several brands. I have used regular running shoes, but they have poor traction on snow and ice.

I am a very slow runner. I have always just taken my time and have a high cadence and am light on my feet. I have noticed I tend not to heel strike very much and I wonder if this is partly the reason I have been largely injury free. My right foot splays to the right, as I am also a longboarder and kick with that leg. I have not been able to correct for this and when I have tried I end up hurt. So I keep the splay. The left foot is straight, though.

I have had a decade of running behind me. I intend to run until two weeks after the day I die. I want to try barefoot out of mostly curiosity, but injury prevention sounds very nice too. I want to recapture that feeling I had hiking when I was 18. I wish I could forgo the shoes totally, but the winters here are too severe to run around in thin shoes. I have a long and exciting summer ahead of me!

I am Nyal Davidsson and here is a little bit about myself.
