Here is a quick introduction:Name: Jason
\nAge: 40
\nYears running: 4-5
\nTypical weekly mileage: 20-40 mpw (more when in marathon training)
\nUsual running terrain: mostly sidewalks, road, park paths (cement) and some track
\nExperience going barefoot: I have always liked to walk around barefoot so it’s not a big deal for me to go barefoot throughout the day. I don’t particularly pay attention to when I’m barefoot or not, but I tend to avoid shoes when I can.
\nAny pre-existing injuries, niggles: I have had on and off issues with my leg leg, including my knee and insole. All kinds of pains related to the knee that has sidelined me during marathon training
\nUsual running footwear: I have tried pretty much every shoe out there. I’ve always been looking for a shoe that would allieviate my pains. I’m run in Nikes, Asics, Brooks, Mizuno, etc
\nUsual foot-strike style: before starting in the minimalist\/BF process I was definitely a heel striker
\nReasons for running barefoot: After reading “Born to Run” I was amazed at the similarities between Christopher McDougall and myself. The aches and pains, the people telling me that some people aren’t just meant to run, or need special orthotics, etc. I decided to try minimalist footwear (Vibram Five Fingers) on the advice of one of the trainers at our local running store. Once I started running in Vibrams I noticed that I really liked it, and the aches and pains seemed to go away. From there the next logical step was to try out barefoot running, particularly to help with my form.
\nAny relevant expertise: Just life experience<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
Hello to everyone.
