A mixture of sand, pebbles, shingle and rock meant that my poor old feet were a bit mashed at the end of it. Hopefully it won’t be long before they have the kind of resilience they had at the end of the summer last year.

Thankfully, they were not too bad for a half marathon next day.
Surprisingly, I ran my quickest half marathon for a couple of years.
Also surprising was a blister on each foot, where the ball joins the big toe. Old shoes and a new blister position for me. All I can think is that the recent return to barefoot running has got me up on to my toes a little more, especially when pressing on, as I was during the second half of the race.

The day after the half marathon I ran another half mile barefoot at the end of an easy 6 miler.

The Achilles is still a worry and the half marathon possibly aggravated that a little.

Total mileage for the 2 weeks: 92 miles
Barefoot: 2.7

This 2 weeks has seen 2 barefoot runs, both as part of longer runs in shoes, and also a reasonable amount of barefoot ‘training’.
