Felt very tired today so just an easy jog starting off over the fields. Once I hit the road I took the shoes off to see how the feet felt. They coped pretty well with a mile so I kept them off after turning back. I then reached a small lane with some quite steep downhill sections. It’s a very minor, single track road and although the surface is very smooth, the centre of the road has quite a build up of debris. Nothing nasty, just gravel particles, twigs and dirt. Some of this finds its way on to the edges of the road and made for an ‘interesting’ barefoot experience. I had to slow down quite a bit and much tip-toeing was involved. At the bottom of the hill the surface changed to a much more coarse aggregate. I put the shoes back on for the short jog home but was pleased to have run another 3 miles with no shoes.
