This was quite a significant run. My longest road run for over a year, 14.5 miles on almost flat road; run in Terrocs. I was planning to run the last 2 miles barefoot, but decided against; it got quite dark towards the end and I couldn’t really see where my feet were falling. In hindsight, this was probably a good thing, because running that far in my low-profile Terrocs put more strain on my already battered calf muscles — 2 miles barefoot would not have helped much.
Mostly, during this run I was concentrating on running as I would barefoot, keeping things generally as light as possible. I must admit I did become aware of the reduced cushioning in the forefoot of my Terrocs. Balls of my feet were not exactly sore, but I felt like they would get that way with a few more miles.
Achilles still a bit tender so I’ve taken drastic action with the knife — more in next post.
