…..if you could class it as running! It’s all in the mind….well almost!!
I’m just back from a 3.5 mile ‘run’. I find that if I tell myself I’m going for a walk, then I’m more likely to turn it into a run and be pleased with the outcome. If I set out for a run it’s generally a frustrating and disappointing experience. It could just be that walking for a few minutes means I’m warmed up for running, or it could be that I’m playing mind games with myself but, in any case, setting out at a brisk walking pace makes for a better outcome.
Running is at a minimum now, but I shouldn’t complain! I’m 38 weeks pregnant and have managed to maintain a reasonable level of fitness throughout. I have been struggling mentally of late, however. It has seemed like a long time since I was able to indulge fully in running and I rely very heavily upon my running for emotional and mental well-being – not just physical fitness. I was feeling a bit glum the other day when it suddenly dawned on me that I can (hopefully) look forward to hard training and racing again soon. I cheered myself up with thoughts of potential goals and races but, for now, I’ll keep them under my hat. Can’t be getting over-excited in my current state!!
