38 weeks + pregnant.
What a difference a bit of sunshine makes! I thoroughly enjoyed my 5 mile ‘run’ in the spring sunshine today. It was a joy to be out and I didn’t really mind that it took me near to 55 minutes – the longer I was out the better.
I adopted my strategy of going out for a ‘walk’, taking the trouble to announce that I was “just walking” to a neighbour as I left the house, and set out in the opposite direction to Graham (who was planning 2 laps to my 1). Even walking was uncomfortable when I set out today, however. The baby’s head is well and truly engaged which causes an interesting sensation when in an upright position. I walked for about half a mile and thought I’d give running a try. I broke into a gentle jog. The discomfort in my pelvis didn’t really get any worse, but I had the constant feeling of needing to empty my bladder! My lower legs were also quite uncomfortable – they are getting a bit swollen these days!
Anyway – I’m making observations, not complaining! I completed the 5 mile circuit by marching up the hills and jogging the downhill and flat sections. It took me more than 20 minutes longer than it would’ve taken 9 months ago, but I took in much more of the scenery and sunshine than ever before. I also beat Graham back and bagged the bath first – bonus!!!
