Does anyone else get this?
I’m feeling that not only is the pad beneath my second and third toes toughening up, but also that the top edge seems to be slightly extending?
No? Thought not.
If anyone is just starting out on barefoot running I think it would be very interesting to both measure your feet and take a footprint of each foot before you start and then analyze the differences 15 weeks in. I’m sure my arches have lifted and, as I wrote above, the pads are building and possibly projecting forward as they deal with the forefoot running and push off.
So, if you are new to barefoot it’s time to get the poster paints out…
Weeks 24 & 25 summary:
Total miles: About 20 miles, mainly on tarmac paths, pavements and cross country, wet and dry
Barefoot miles: 2.5, tarmac, pavement and cobbles – after rain
Transition miles: 0

Certainly noticed the arches are now higher, and also a distinct thickening of skin — although not hardening — on lateral side of sole about halfway between little toe and heel. These have been past hot spots, in area that was quite surprising to me. Definitely a good idea to record feet condition and character before starting barefoot running.
