I have an entry for the Beachy Head Marathon in late October.
For some strange reason we decided to jog/walk the whole course on Sunday; walking up the hills and generally taking much more time than usual.
I wore my usual Inov-8 Roclites, they are comfy and quite like slippers now.
However, after about 10 miles, with plenty of walking, my feet were pretty sore, and sore in unusual places.
Likewise, my better half suffered similarly. Indeed, she was affected to such a degree that we ended up walking most of the second half, because the feet were just too sore to run. Finally, the shoes and socks came off for the last couple of miles — instant relief!
Very strange and it just goes to show that walking instead of running makes a huge different to foot plant and consequently shoe fit. Of course, we should have run the whole way and then our feet would have been ok — not sure about the rest of us though!
A week later it was back in Wales for a few days camping and exploring Cader Idris and Aran Fawddwy. Two spectacular mountains, the latter just 30 ft short of the magic 3000. Because of this and it’s remoteness it was very, very quiet; we didn’t see anyone on the tops. The conditions were superb and the run down on steep grassy slopes was fantastic.
Not much barefooting in the past two weeks, just a couple of short runs, but some exhilarating running in breathtaking surroundings.
Total miles for 2 weeks: 67
Barefoot miles: 1.8
