- Total weekly miles
4 hours of running, don’t know how far.
- Number of running sessions
An easy week of 4x1hour runs.
- Total weekly barefoot mile
None, I ran shod to give the blister I developed last week a chance to heal.
- Number of barefoot running sessions

- Running terrain
Mostly flat, on a mixture of pavement, dirt tracks and road.
- Ground surface of barefoot runs

- Runs in minimalist shoes, e.g. Five Fingers.
3 runs in my Vivobarefoot Evos, with socks. I thought the added padding of socks would help the blister. Last run in my Lunas. I put the hemp laces on this time, as my leather ones are too short after wearing through the knot a couple of times on each sandal.
- Weather for barefoot runs (rain on road?)

- Condition of skin on feet — hotspots, blisters
Blister is slowly healing. The dead skin tore off very early, which is why I’ve tried running with socks and shoes for the first time in months. It has helped, the skin is toughening up quite quickly, but still a bit too thin to run barefoot on at the moment.
- Interesting/amusing comments received during the week: e.g. ‘You’ve got no shoes on!’
None, but I saw a few people having a good stare this week!
- Treading on nasty things: e.g. glass, thorns, poo — how you dealt with any
Nothing this week. I think the glass shard last week has reminded me that I need to be a bit more aware of my surroundings!
- Changes in your running style that you’ve noticed.
Well, after a week of relative rest (I still find it amazing that I can run for 4 sessions of 1 hour each in a week, probably covering between 20-25 miles and still call it a rest week!), I decided to check my last run against what I have been able to do before. Without straining, and keeping my heart rate at around 140 throughout the whole run, I manged to run roughly half a mile further than before on my standard route that I’ve been avoiding for the last couple of weeks! So I think I’m improving! My running style is coming back as well, I feel like I can move my feet relaively quickly, no plodding to keep the heart rate down. It’s getting more comfortable now after 5 weeks.
- Injuries incurred, or reduction of existing symptoms.
None.
- Useful tips and nuggets of info you’ve picked up along the way.
None really. I suppose the importance of having a rest week every 3-4 weeks… But that’s not very original!
