Total weekly miles: 11
Running sessions: 4
Total barefoot miles: 1 Took my shoes off with a little over a mile to go. It was 86 and 430pm. The ground was so hot I had to put them back on before getting home they burned so bad. Even the shade was hot. Bit of a disappointment but oh well.
BF sessions: 1
Surface: asphalt, grass, gravel
Runs in minimalist shoes: all
Weather: 80-95 with 75%-90% humidity
Feet condition: Not too bad. Nails getting closer to normal looking but I still have to paint them to go barefoot 🙁 Still getting blisters on my left ball/second toe
Gross things: Almost stepped on a HUGE road kill frog. It was pretty fresh looking. Then a mile later I stepped on the edge of another frog’s guts.
Ran the Race for the Cure last week. 70000 people. We kept trying to get to the untimmed runners area but couldn’t pass the people standing around in time. Once we got to the front, they let the walkers go so we spent the first mile dodging the walkers. Hot and miserable at the end. Good to see so many people out though. I wore my VFF’s and almost made it home without drawing attention to myself. During the race I heard a couple people talking about them as I passed. “Yeah she’s got them rubber things on her feet!” Then we got to the Metro to get back home. I sneezed. “Bless y-OH MY GOSH YOUR SHOES!! Don’t they have any support?”
“Nope, just a really thin sole” I pulled them partially off to show the ladies. That was greeted with a few ooh’s and ahh’s. My husband said my face turned bright red. “Oh…so don’t they like hurt your feet?” I have a hard time explaining the shoes without sounding like I’m preaching barefootedness. Anytime I hear someone say they have leg or foot pain I want to suggest it, but worry about sounding all righteous about it. I think I’ve had good luck though in terms of no pain. The worst I’ve had it my feet are a little tender after a while.
