Over this last week I have had the very pronounced feeling that my feet feel very ‘3D’.
It’s as though they have risen up and I’m very conscious of the heels and the balls of my feet taking my weight between them, but not in a flat linear way, more like the separate piers of a bridge supporting the span between them.
I can only conclude that after three months of experimenting with barefoot walking and running that the structure of my feet has changed. It feels great.
What’s not so great is my worry now (a bit late in the day I know) that I am about to run 13 miles on roads in off-road shoes. Although I gave up road shoes weeks ago I just have not run this distance on roads in Inov-8s before. What if my body isn’t used to it and it really does bugger something up?
I haven’t left myself any other options – it’s too late to buy or wear new shoes, my last road shoes were far too narrow and gave me black toenails, and the ones before that have been through the washing machine and anyway would now feel like platforns.
Wish me luck!
