No picture this time – I daren’t look.
So, of course I decided to go for ‘minimal barefoot’ shoes and have ordered some Vivo Barefoot Evo IIs, which will arrive tomorrow – I’ll let you know how I get on.
Even without the beach shoes I still wanted to go out at lunchtime today, buoyed up by last week’s 9-miler. As it wasn’t too cold or wet decided I would wear a pair of sports socks.
The reconnection to the ground felt long overdue – the lacerations and abrasions, less welcome.
I did less than three miles and my feet feel sooooo sore. I think they will be very badly blistered but daren’t look yet.
It just goes to show, even with very thin minimal shoes I underestimated the degree of protection they were giving me and may have just taken a very big step backwards.
Sorry to read that Soul Man. I too often get surprised how soon the feet soften up without real exposure to the rough stuff. It’s hard this time of year to keep them hardy (unless they are very hardy!).
I’ve struggled a bit, snow and sub zero are not great for barefoot.
All part of the journey I guess.
