Firstly, I should say that no, I didn’t run up and down Snowdon barefoot.
However, it’s been quite an eventful week.
I managed a 3.5 mile barefoot run on Tuesday, and I must be quite confident because this was just 4 days before the mountain race (that’s certainly not something anyone wants to do with sore feet). My diary says my feet were sore after this run, but they obviously recovered fully before my trip to Wales.
It is a mad race for sure: 5 miles up, and 5 miles down.
Running down typically takes half the time to run up; the best descend in a shade over 20 minutes. Seeing the lead runners coming down is, quite simply, awesome. These guys are a breed apart from the best road runners; running near 4-minute miles down a steep rocky path is not for the fainthearted!
I’ve run this race 3 times now and somehow managed my best time yet, but I should be quicker, especially going up.
My feet were very comfortable in my Roclite 315. And — best of all — I didn’t fall over.
Total miles for the week: 28.5
Barefoot: 3.5
