Week….um..8 or 9 or something.

Total weekly miles: 14 miles

Total BF miles: 12 miles

Barefoot Sessions: 5

Terrain: Asphalt for form. Trails for fun.

Wore aqua shoes for two miles of this week’s totals.

Weather: Warm week. Not hot.

Condition of Feet: After a long run on Monday, I had one day of TOFP. Not really noticeable, but I took a day off to be sure. New problem this week: Morton’s Toe. Basically, my shortened first metatarsal is causing an unsual load to be placed at the head of the second metatarsal. This results in high pain and tenderness developing on the site. Callouses form and I feel as though I am walking on gravel. It is very unpleasant.

Comments: Smiles and polite interest. Someone hollered something I didn’t catch as I had headphones on.

Nasty things: No nastiness, but I saw my first beer bottle smashed in my path.

Changes in Running Style: I have been working hard on cadence this week.

Injuries: No injuries. The splint problem is almost gone. Left foot is nearly as strong as my right one. Woohoo on that.

Wisdom McNuggets: I reached a milestone this week. I have reached the halfway point in my transition mileage. I am aiming to get back up to my 20 to 25 mile weeks in 5 mile sessions. I can now run 2.5 miles BF. I have also been very frustrated this week with my Morton’s Toe problem. I have been playing with the form and may have found some working solutions, but it has been hard. I even considered putting the shoes back on just to get some miles in. However, some things are looking promising as solutions. The pain can be great and the discomfort can be immense. If I cannot solve this issue, I will be forced to ditch BFR. I suspect, however, that I am just on a low swing. I did manage to run yesterday without any problems by altering my form and ramping the hell out of the cadence.

What will this week bring?
