The Stick

Once a year we compete an a hundred mile relay; 18 legs, 6 runners, 3 legs each of about 5.5 miles on average.
It’s called the South Downs Way Relay. The route is off-road, very hilly and equates to 3 cross country races in a day with 2-3 hours rest between each.

It’s always a challenge to eat, re-hydrate, and generally get the body back into condition for the 2nd and especially the 3rd leg. As the day nears it’s end, dragging the tired, aching body out of the minibus for another huge effort becomes almost impossible.
It was during this event that we were introduced to ‘The Stick’.
What was that strange implement a runner was using on his legs?
Essentially, ‘The Stick’ is a self massaging tool, seemingly quite simple in construction, but highly effective at administering the kind of massage that muscles need to help them recover after hard work.
Impressed by this runner’s recommendation, we got one.
We opted for the standard 24″ model; there are quite a few variations available depending on application and the user’s size.

Whilst nothing beats an experienced pair of Magic Hands, ‘The Stick’ is a great portable, cost-effective way to get your legs back into condition for their next run.Click here to prevent injury

It’s surprisingly easy to use and it doesn’t take much effort to produce a meaningful (and painfully good), self massage.
