Wanting to do more
Well, it’s getting a bit frustrating because I’m still struggling to shift this Achilles niggle.
I was hoping it would be gone now, but it is hindering my barefoot running progress. It’s not stopping me, but it is restricting me.
Anyway, a reasonable week’s training including 2 short barefoot runs on the road.
Total weekly miles: 40.8
Barefoot: 2.2
Week 7 – already going poorly
Looks like this week will be a recovery week. I went out a little too hard last Saturday with the speed work and now I have some swelling on the bottom of my foot on the forefoot area between the 2nd and 3rd toes. It was hurting me (probably a 2 or 3 on a scale going up to 10) when walking or sitting around, but I decided to test it out on a run on Tuesday. I ran 6.5 miles barefoot without any noticeable

We did track work on Saturday (1 mile time trail, that I completed in about 6:53 in Vibrams followed up with 6 200 meter sprints). I was unable to run on Sunday due to it being Mother’s Day and the need to take my boy to go see Iron Man 2. I did notice a little bruising on the bottom
The Best Laid Plans…….
I’ve been delinquent in my postings the last couple of weeks. This lingering heel pain has continued to be just that – lingering. It became slightly worse and, as a result, I haven’t done any barefoot runs in the last couple of weeks. I’ve been staying with my minimalist shoe runs hoping things would improve but they haven’t. I’ll get on the table right
One sore barefoot run
Again, just the one barefoot run this week.
Home from work and removing the shoes sooner than usual, leaving 4 miles on a mixed road surface; some nice and smooth, but quite a long section with coarse aggregate.
As usual, it’s the sections of road with tree cover that produce most discomfort. It’s not debris from the trees, it is the shade they provide, meaning that the tar
