Well, I almost feel like an imposter here, as I do most of my running on a treadmill and only run a modest number of miles – 22 weekly – and am just starting to run one mile daily barefoot. I do understand that running barefoot on a treadmill can’t compare to running barefoot outside, but it’s a very different experience nonetheless and I’m looking forward to reaping
Back into the barefoot routine
This 2 weeks has seen 2 barefoot runs, both as part of longer runs in shoes, and also a reasonable amount of barefoot ‘training’.
The first run was pushing the distance a bit for me at the moment; a total of 2.2 miles on some quite prickly roads. Two sections were run barefoot: 1.7m shortly after starting then again half a mile to finish my 7 mile run.

Week 13: Settling In
This week was all about merging my mental ability to adjust my form, cue my body to relax, and my physical ability to run longer distances. This week I finished a 7-mile run, my longest distance since my marathon last year in October. Since the marathon, being injured, and starting this BF thing, I had only done a 10k (6.2 miles) on Thanksgiving and that was a major ITB disaster in itself.

Foot sore (and fancy free)
My barefoot running usually involves taking off my shoes and socks towards the end of a longer run. Last night I decided to run the last 0.75 miles of a 7.25 mile run barefoot.
My barefoot experience started at the bottom of a hill, the surface of which was rough tarmac. My feet were already a little moist and soft, and the road surface felt prickly and uncomfortable. At
2nd Week barefoot
This week I have decided to run the majority of my miles barefoot, even if I have to cut back on the miles. I am currently enrolled in a training program focused on increasing speed (through a local running store) and on the schedule they had an 85 minute easy run on Sunday. I started out in my Asics but after about an hour I just couldn’t stand it anymore and removed my shoes so I could run
