Although I have been running in Vibram Five Fingers for a few months, off and on, last week I decided to try complete barefoot running for the first time. Unfortunately I did not take everyone’s advice and did too much too soon. My first barefoot run felt so good that I ran close to 4 miles on cement. At the end of the run I had a number of blood blisters around the balls of my feet. Other
Introduction
Hello to everyone. Here is a quick introduction:Name: Jason
Age: 40
Years running: 4-5
Typical weekly mileage: 20-40 mpw (more when in marathon training)
Usual running terrain: mostly sidewalks, road, park paths (cement) and some track
Experience going barefoot: I have always liked to walk around barefoot so it’s not a big deal for me to go barefoot throughout
1st posts: 3 runs with hauraches
4-9-10:
Ran 2 miles after first building my hauraches. Went really well other than some knot issues.
I used the recipe at:

I found the 4 mm cherry by asking my local shoe repair guy if he had any to sell. He said no but told me where he, and apparently all the other shoe repair shops in Chicago, buy the stuff.
I bought a sheet of it for $24 and built my first pair of hauraches.
Week 10: 13.25mi total w/e 4/10/2010
Monday: 3mi in socks on the treadmill at gym, working on increasing speed. Under 24min to finish the 3mi
Wednesday: 10.25mi barefoot outside. Feet are pretty sore after this. The route consisted of mostly really rough pavement, stepped off to the grass from time to time to give my feet some relief. Took it really slow, 1h45min to finish, especially on the really rough parts and sped up on the smoother
Vibram Five Finger running
I am in pain a lot lately. Obviously not enough to keep me from running though. I got “the stick” to help with my pain in my calves. If you wanna run in vff’s or bf; GET the stick. It works wonders. Other than that; i feel like i’d have to re learn how to run in shoes again. You get lots of looks in these shoes. They’re just jealous. The pain is all about getting used
Introduction
In 1995 I took up running by accident. I wanted to buy a Nordic Track and, as my wife will attest, I have this horrible habit of buying stuff with the best of intentions and then having them turn into fantastic dust collectors. So I told myself if I got up every morning and went for a walk (for a full month) I’d go buy the machine. Well the walk itself became fun. One day I decided
