This was quite a significant run. My longest road run for over a year, 14.5 miles on almost flat road; run in Terrocs. I was planning to run the last 2 miles barefoot, but decided against; it got quite dark towards the end and I couldn’t really see where my feet were falling. In hindsight, this was probably a good thing, because running that far in my low-profile Terrocs put more strain on
8th September — Barefoot run 14
Just a short excursion on the road. Out and back for a total of about 4.5 miles.
The final half mile done barefoot; this road is slightly more prickly than my usual one, but the distance presented no difficulty.
I have noticed a very slight tenderness on my right Achilles tendon. It seems to be pressure inflicted rather than a strain, because it is only apparent when prodding it and not when running
Barefoot run 13
No run on Saturday due to migraine, not a hangover.
Sunday’s run was a mixture of very hilly trails and hilly roads — 12.5 miles in total. Final three quarters of a mile was completed after removing shoes and socks — it’s becoming a bit of a habit now.
Road surface was a lovely and smooth tarmac, quiet country lane. Pleased I was able to do this because after my last barefoot run on
4th September — Barefoot run 12
A short road run home from work of 5.5 miles.
I selected the aqua shoes for this run and the plan was to take them off for a spell and run barefoot. So at about the halfway point that’s just what I did. I’ve not run on this road barefoot before. It’s another quiet lane, but it is surfaced with a rather more coarse aggregate than the lane I’m used to; more like the lane I encountered
3rd September — club time trial
Three races in 5 days — I’ll be getting fit at this rate!
I chose to run this hilly 4.7 miler in my Terrocs. I’ve not run in ‘normal’ road shoes for more than two weeks and I’m not planning to either; I feel no need for more cushioning or ‘support’. Quite pleased that my time was the quickest out of the 4 time trials I’ve run this year. Still a good
2nd September — Barefoot run 11
This evening’s 8 mile road run ended with my first barefoot run in the rain.
I wasn’t sure what to expect. I know that cycling in the wet exposes tyres to a greater risk of puncture. There seems to be various reasons for this: more debris on the road, debris sticking to the tyres, and probably most likely is that water lubricates any sharp objects helping them penetrate the rubber. I
